IBFF to Co-present Historic Silent Light of Asia (1925)

17 June 2005
The 1925 silent masterpiece Light of Asia (Prem Sanyas) will be screened as part of the Tenth Anniversary San Francisco Silent Film Festival at the Castro Theatre, Sunday, July 10 at 1:30 pm. The 110 minute film will be accompanied by live music performed by Ben Kunin on sarod and Debopriyo Sarkar on tabla.

This early epic work depicts Prince Siddhartha from his privileged life through his search for enlightenment. With an opulence and cast of thousands only possible through the involvement of the then still powerful Maharajah of Jaipur, this is a landmark film not to be missed on the big screen.
